First Day at Rosendale

Amelia POV

"But where is Dorm No.103?", I asked her. She said, "When you find me near the entrance, only then I'll let you know and guide you to your dorm." This girl is really getting on my nerve. She knows I'm already tired, but how can Miss. Daisy Hale leave a chance to irritate me! I sighed and kept walking.

Oh wait! I didn't tell you? Pardon, my cuties. I'm currently at Rosendale University of Scholars in New York. (Ooh, the name sounds so elite and expensive.)

Yes, even getting admission into this dream university of mine was no less than a struggle. Thanks to the scholarship I got back there at Chicago. Not that my parents wouldn't afford it, they always want me to achieve things through hardwork.

At a few distance, I finally spotted Daisy. I waved at her and she came to me running. After a bone-crushing hug, I asked her, "By the way, what's your dorm no.?"

She passed me a cheeky smile and replied, "You'll get to know soon, Amy." I barely heard her reply and she got me running with her.

Panting breathlessly, we finally stood in front of Dorm No.103. She glanced at me and said, "We've reached our dorm." I was panting heavily that I registered her words a few seconds later. And it got me — our dorm? I looked at her with a questioning look.

She seemed to read my mind and said, "Yes, Amy. We both are assigned the same dorm." I squealed and we got inside our dorm.

I started arranging my clothes and belongings chattering with Daisy. I feel relieved to have a friend like her in this new environment. Moreover, we are sharing the same dorm. My journey in Rosendale University won't be a challenging one, I guess.

Next Day,

Daisy and I were pacing around, arranging our bag, books and timetable. Unfortunately, we don't share the same class. I'm in the aerospace engineering department while she's in the economics. Grabbing a few sandwiches, we left for our classes.

"Good morning, class. My name is Prof. Jennifer Watson. I'm your class in-charge. Before we move to our academics, let's have a short introduction of my dear class."

Though it was only an introduction, nervousness and excitement hummed in my chest. What if someone judges my appearance, looks or my voice? Already the girls around me look over-dressed and stylish.

My chain of thoughts broke when I realized it was soon my turn. Practicing my introduction inside my head for 'n' number of times, I stood up confidently and introduced myself.

On finishing, my professor looked really impressed and satisfied. Everything was going well, until she reached to a boy who was sleeping somewhere near the last bench.

"Gentleman, stand up and introduce yourself to the class," the professor urged him. The boy's bench partner nudged his arm and he finally stood up.

He didn't smile. Didn't even pretend to. His voice is low and uninterested. A grey hoodie hanged on his frame like he couldn't care less how he looks. The messy hair, the lazy posture.

"Playboy", a voice in my head muttered. I could hear few girls gasping at his facial looks and appearance and commenting on how handsome and charming he looks without even trying. I rolled my eyes on them.

Later That Day,

Mine and Daisy's lectures ended at the same time. So we decided to explore the cafeteria.

She soon got to know that her friends are already present over there.

Yeah, while students of this university got some time to arrange themselves in their dorms or to explore the university campus, Daisy befriended many people and surprisingly, they all are a group now.

She spotted her friends and dragged me to them. "Hello! Y'all remember I told you about my best friend? Here she is!"

I looked awkwardly at each one of them and introduced myself, "Hello. My name is Amelia Preston. I'm from the aerospace engineering department."

They looked at each other and one by one introduced themselves to me nicely with hearts full of warmth, except one guy.

The other guy, who I remember his name was Liam, was sitting beside this guy. Liam lightly nudged his arm.

He took off his earpods and gave Liam a questioning look.

He followed Liam's gaze and looked at me. For a good five seconds of staring at me, he returned back to his previous posture.

Damn! That was rude. And it struck me–this was the same guy of my class, that backbencher grey hoodie. I took a mental note to myself to never talk to him.

Amelia’s college journey has just begun—and it already feels like a mix of excitement, awkward moments, and unexpected personalities. Dorm No.103 might be her new comfort zone, but the grey hoodie guy? Not so much. Stay tuned, 'cause things are just getting started at Rosendale!
