Thirty minutes later,
Author POV
Amelia sat in the car after arranging the first aid for Justin. She became more and more anxious with each passing second.
After a few moments later, she saw Ryan and Andrew struggling to carry Justin to the car. As they were coming closer, Amelia's eyes flickered to Justin's arms to look for any wounds. She was in utter shock and gasped loudly to see his right arm and the corner of his lips bleeding badly.
Ryan and Andrew settled Justin on the passenger seat. Justin was half-asleep. He was muttering something but no words came out clearly from his mouth. "Amelia, will you be able to do it or shall we take him to the hospital?" Ryan. asked. Amelia snapped back to reality and replied, "D-Don't worry. I-I'll do it." Okay then, I'll be back in 10. Liam is calling me. I think it's urgent." Ryan said before leaving. "He might need some electrolytic or glucose drinks. I'll be right back. Stay here, Amelia." Andrew panicked and left.
Amelia gulped down the breath she was holding since long. She started cleaning and bandaging Justin's right arm. Her hands shivered badly, yet she focused herself to treat him. Her hands moved to treat the corner of his lips. Justin, on the other hand, was fully immersed into his drunken state and kept on muttering things.
As Amelia's fingers touched the deep cut around his lips, he hissed in pain, "Ahh...E-Erin!." His voice fainted. He slowly tried to open his eyes but failed miserably. Amelia panicked and took her hands back with an uneven breathing. She was shocked to witness the pain in Justin's voice and felt bad for him.
Amelia resumed to treat Justin. She was about to sigh in relief but Justin's sudden outburst shook her. He looked right in Amelia's eyes and said with a shaking voice, "Why?! Why did Erin do this to me? Why did she kiss Joshua? She was so precious to me, yet she betrayed me! Was my love not enough for her? Don't I deserve to be loved? Am I so unlovable that people just use and throw me away?"
Amelia didn't know what exactly she should react or say. She wasn't that close to Justin or his life. But she knew she had to handle this. Justin is already badly injured in his arm, she cannot let him breakdown at this point.
Amelia violently shook her head and in an attempt to coax Justin, she said, "No, Justin. Don't say this. You're more than anything a girl can ever wish for. Please don't cry for Erin. I-I understand your pain. But you have to hold up yourself together." Amelia's words seemed to calm Justin down.
But he still cried louder and louder. He found her palm and lightly squeezed it by crying, "But h-how? How can I f-forget everything in just a few seconds? Her betrayal is too much for me to handle. I trusted her with all my love. And she left me b-broken within a month! How will I move on? How can I forget her? How can I forget this mess?"
Tears welled up in Amelia's eyes after witnessing the vulnerable side of Justin. "Hug him," her heart whispered. "He needs you."
But her mind snapped back, sharp and bitter. "Does he need me or just someone? What if I regret after hugging him?"
Her chest tightened. Her fists clenched. He is so broken. So unlike the version of him she had seen before–confident, guarded and untouchable. "If I hold him now, will I ever be able to let go?" she thought. But he trembled. Just a little. And that's what shattered her.
Her body moved before her mind could catch up. She wrapped her arms around his shaking frame. At first, he tensed–like he wasn't sure if he deserved comfort—but then he collapsed into her, clutching the back of her shirt like it was the only thing keeping him from falling apart completely.
His breath was warm against her neck, heavy with whiskey and heartache. He didn't speak further, but the tremor in his fingers, the way his body sank into hers, said everything. In this moment, he needed something real–and she choosed to be it.
Slowly she pulled back, her arms loosening as she studied his face-eyes half-closed, pain still etched across his face. He wouldn't remember this, she thought. Not the hug. Not her presence. Not the quiet way she had been there when he broke down.
By morning, it would all dissolve into a hangover haze. It hurt her, knowing this moment—this small piece of tenderness would mean nothing to him while it would stay with her for longer than it should.
Amelia POV
"Amelia, are you there?" Ryan and Andrew's collective voices interrupted my thoughts. I quickly wiped off the tears from y cheeks and replied, "Y-yeah, yeah... I-I have treated Justin's wounds. His pain will be okay in two days."
Ryan faced towards me and muttered, "Thank you, Amelia." I gave him a light assuring smile. Three of us glanced at Justin for one last time and settled onto our respective seats. The ride back to the apartment was silent. But this silence carried lots of unspoken emotions, doubts and past secrets that had to be revealed, not only for Justin, but also for Liam and Sarah.
So many things happened in just one day..... Let's see what happens in the next chapter. Will Justin remember this night? Or will he not?
